Home Should Make you Happy..

Home Should Make you Happy..

Next time you are about to walk through the front door to your home; Take a pause. Just think of your eyelids as a soothing sweeper that washes away your thoughts with every long, hard blink.

Once you have emptied your mind of thought and reached a state of calm and full awareness, open your door, take one complete walk through of your home, and look at everything around you. Take everything in and just observe. When you are done, you should have the answer to the following question:

How does your home make you feel?

If that question resonates with you in some way, and you care about keeping in good spirits, then you owe it to yourself to take a few simple actions.
With that in mind, it's extremely important to make sure that your home is designed in a manner that makes you look forward to returning each and every day. Ideally, it should be a Welcoming, cheerful and warm place that evokes a sense of well-being and comfort.

To get you started, here are TEN ways to create an ideal happy home:

1. Decorate your space with items that reflect your identity.
If you have a great wall art or a painting that you bought few years ago that you still love, don’t give it away. Place it in the space you use most or on a wall where you engage all time so you can look at it and remember why you love it.

2. Get some neutral tones on larger furniture pieces.
Get some good quality, neutral pieces that will stand out in your decor.
Jump on board with new trends and colors by adding elements of the latest trend to your neutral base. Take advantage of pillows, throws, lampshades, or dining chair seats, all of which can be easily changed out.

3. Give attention to beautiful lighting.
Use lighting to highlight areas you most want to see. Consider spotlighting a picture you love or creating a cozy reading nook with a dimming decorative hanging light.

4. Bring in mirrors to elongate and brighten a space.
Mirrors work wonders to make a space feel larger and brighter. Try allowing light to reflect off them to create a brighter space.

5. Let in the natural sunlight.
Use natural light whenever possible, have windows with large spans. Direct sunlight plays an interesting role in bringing life to your space. Also take care when exposing fabrics or wood furniture to the elements.

6. Create spaces that are conducive to conversation.
Pay attention to seating arrangements. Place furniture in a way that allows people to see one another, so they’re more likely to open up and communicate.

7. Bring the outdoors in.
Add greenery and planters, like the ones that can be kept inside to improve great air supply and also de-stress your home. Choose colors of flowers that say how you want to feel when you are at home.

8. Get rid of that thing you hate:
You know exactly what it is. That thing that's been bugging you ever since you moved in, but it's been around long enough that now you've given up and gotten used to it. Don't settle. Fix it. Whatever it is. You'll breathe a sigh of relief every single time you see it.

9. Introduce a lovely scent into your home.
Smells have a strong impact on your disposition.Try selecting design objects that integrate the scent and spread it your around your space for a relaxing feel as well as a wonderful smell. Lavender, for instance, is known as a calming and relaxing herb and has frequently been used for insomnia, anxiety, depression and natural stress relief.

10. Maintain a clean and organized home.
Last but utmost the important one. Neatness gives a strong sense of structure and order. If your day has been chaotic, returning to a neat and clean place can put things in reverse.
Returning to a clean home is like returning home to a clean slate - it is a fresh start, like leaving the day's chaos behind. In so far as the overall design of your home is concerned; implementing the idea that "less is more" is ideal.
Simplicity is key. Be okay with a space that looks “lived in.”
If you’d like your family and visitors to feel comfortable in your home, allow them to be comfortable. Everyone wants a warm and welcoming home, a place where they can feel good about themselves...
